tony ollivierras issued a generous number of singles and eps under the ibex moniker on rushhour, planet e, yore, and his own ibex music, and now follows up his 2010 yore release, meltdown, with absolution, though this time under his birth name. no matter: ollivierras music sounds great, whether issued under his real name or an alias, and absolution is no exception. the infectious title cut gets things moving with a bass-powered blend of claps and funky rhythms before chunky house chords and silken synth figures add to the tracks multi-layered splendour. a jazzier dimension rises to the surface of quick release when the tunes churning hi-hats are joined by royally swinging electric piano playing and luscious synth pads.phase down opts for a purer deep house sound in its focus on kick drums, claps, and futuristic synths, though the track proves that ollivierras naturally funky side cant help but emerge, here as it does elsewhere.

we think everything we release on frijsfo is fresh. at the same time we believe it doesnt hurt to stay in touch with your roots, which is something buzzin10 does in a fascinating way. we cant tell you much about this young producer from east london, a publicity-shy individual whose music we first heard thanks to his older brother. but we do know he pieces together rhythms by sampling fragments from old tape packs – mainly garage nations late 90s recordings of some of the best djs of all time, including dj ez, karl tuff enuff brown, dj luck & mc neat, and ray hurley.
dj support so far comes from sully, desto, oslek, warlock, kingthing, resketch, rk and ltf (wifey ldn), cardopusher, valta, dusk & blackdown

second part of recycling a la bau, heavy food this time with heavy percussion and rassling rides throughout the whole track. trikeracing is far beyond control, this track is a soundexplosion, nothing less. shuffleracing is a bit more reduced featuring a different groove and focussing on the sawtooth theme of the basic version. two more killers, no fillers, again on credo! nice feedback and support by faki, liebing, bodzin and many more, but the most defining feedback by mr. gary beck, no other words could describe it in a better way: by goodness me the trikeracing is wicked!! thats some heavy shit there. at the right moment i cant wait to play this! ... word!

o jays road manager, don king prison chauffeur, window washer, house painter, ink spot, domino, producer, engineer, label owner, guitorgan technician, and one-time steward of a coveted jet magazine delivery route, lou ragland is cleveland s eastside success story. though suffocated by lake eries nitrate rich waters and the burning oil from a cuyahoga river fire, between 1967-1977 lou ragland produced the most thoughtful, hopeful, and downright soulful work to come out of the forest city. bookended by his dynamic albums hot chocolate and understand each other, i travel alone gathers period singles, collaborations, and an unreleased live album cut in 1973, revealing a cleveland genius in a musical microcosm of fearless and confident creation.

the sccucci manucci label has done a fine job of handpicking artists on the rise for their releases to date, collaring the likes of casino times, francis inferno orchestra and toomydisco as well as the odd established name like jacques renault. the labels fourth release forza quattro is still grounded in the disco/house sensibility that has served them so well, though the presence of waze & oddysey demonstrates the sccucci a & r team are willing to deviate. the elusive us pair are in the midst of a hot patch right now with releases already burning on body work and southern fried and plenty more due over the coming months, so their presence here is a real coup. i cant hear you sounds vaguely like a extra bouncy cover of the classic rip groove and definitely ranks alongside their output to date. alongside this the white vinyl ep has tempo traversing contributions from fil lavin, sellouts and deadly sins, with the latters slow and chuggy -dont you know- a particular highlight

techno and house build a strange symbiosis for darlyn vlys, without resulting in typical techhouse. when listening to the two tracks gus and heisenberg you just cant decide between groovy ass shaker and driving techno and you shouldnt! the often surprising development of the tracks combined with sophisticated transitions on the shaky but somehow secure foundation, make this special sound of the frenchman so interesting. the gus remix by affkt! comes as a crème double topping!

the collectable artifact imprint is taking a detour from incendiary and obscure disco re-issues into releasing even more obscure material. mysterious italian electro-wave band cristalli liquidi are featured here with a killer rare italo gem produced by tinto b. (also known for robots are un-american, re-released on italians do it better last year). inspired by a lcd soundsystem song tinto b. comes with this great record! we cant find the connection to the lcd soundsystem track that supposed to have been his source of inspiration, and actually we dont care... its some of the best recent italo disco we ve heard in a while! if you are big on italo vocals the a side is for you, if instead you dig deep electro disco but without the chanting, the dub version on the flip side will more than certainly send you into italo space. another hot artifact release from mr. bottin. tip! part 1/3! the treibgut sonder kompilation consists of tracks by artists which played at the treibgut parties over the last five years. the opening track is the perfect warm up for listening to this compilation. chris established an ideal symbiosis of a smooth bass and a warm vocal line quickening your appetite for more. a groovy funky filtertypen track as we love it. you can spot their hip-hop roots in the vocal parts. the tight kickdrum contributes the uplifting punch making this track defintely a dancefloor tune rather than a warm up. a groovy piece of house music with a spherical break and a deep bassline for our brothers and sisters. this is a slip- proof track with a catchy vocal – definetely causing fun. deep, warm and drifty – this track is putting you in the perfect mood for enjoying sunset in the meadows or warming up at the club. if you cant let go and relax with this track you are probably a hopeless case.

whilst some people claim that the number seven is lucky, some people, like duff, dont believe in luck, or if there is such a thing as luck you make your own. you cant rely on anyone else to hold your hand you know, you gotsta forge your own path, they arent called the mean streets for nothing. duff is the sort of man who not only makes his own luck (cos who else is gonna look after you?) but he keeps an eye on his bredren too. those in the neighbourhood feel safe because all is good in duffs hood, always has been, always will be, the police dont even come there, because they don’t have to, that block is on lock-down brother. though he isnt some type of machismo, over-the-top (hat back go-on sly) caricature, its just the way it is, nuthin to argue about. he has a way about him, the glare of a pitbull and the smile of don juan, dusty is his girl yep thats her real name, the name her mamma gave her on the day she was introduced to this world. the girl is fine thats for sure but what else would you expect from the honey that rides shotgun with the sonic casanova. she might call herself lucky. duff would disagree.

very welcome remastered reissue of the ultra-rare 1982 cut >you cant have it from cult nyc boogie label tnt unlimited inc. mixed by the legendary tony humphries, this excellent cut is hugely dancefloor-friendly featuring a massive feisty vocal performance along with some top bongo action and a killer groove. backed with a superb dubbed-out instrumental version, this is a stone-cold killer and deserves a place in any serious boogie or funk collection. essential!
